So here's my part of the trade I did with *kittyocean. Last week was Tsunacon and I made the last minute decision to go anyway - I had exams the week after, so I was hesitant. (Sadly I caught a bug and I was dying of headaches a couple of days after, so I didn't make it to one of the exams.) Anyway, I was glad I did go, because I was itching just to get out.
I met *kittyocean at Tsunacon. I ran a little late because of the public transportation, but I managed to find the table. I couldn't get away immediately, but I saw *kittyocean's art from a distance, so after some time I went to introduce myself...although I don't think I need much of an introduction.
I suggested a "spontanuous" art trade. I drew this from a little booklet I got from her, I character is called Clover.
She in return made this: [link] Such an awesome portrait. We exchanged the originals. She told me she doesn't usually give out originals, so I am very happy to have it.

I don't recall the last time I gave away an original XD Unless you count along those 3 minute sketches people wanted me to make in their books of Forever Young
You don't know it, but you captured Clover perfectly. Her smile... there is something in there that simply says 'that's Clover'

I'm sorry to read you got a headache and couldn't go to the exams; I hope you can retake them soon!!

I give away quite a lot of work, probably because most of my work is meant to be given away. When I draw live portraits I can't expect people to wait for me to scan it and give them a digital copy instead. Also it's so much better to give people an actual painting as a gift rather than a photo. I grew up giving people my drawings as gifts, so I guess it's easier for me now to give away the originals.

I am glad I managed to capture Clover. Reference helped also, even a small picture of a character can tell me a lot about that character.

It's not a big deal really. It was one re-exam I missed and it wasn't really neccesary for me to retake it. Also it is really easy here to retake tests, so I am not worried. The other exam went rather well, despite my horrible headache.
